The Texas Lyceum is going ”Beyond the Hype” for an equitable, engaging, and experiential conference on immigration and border security. As a bi-partisan organization, we will ensure a balance of perspectives on factors that are driving immigration, how state and federal authorities protect the border, what impact – both in terms of costs and benefits — those who unlawfully reside in Texas have had on our state, and what solutions are possible.

This conference will provide opportunities to engage those on the front lines, those most affected by immigration and border policies, as well as opportunities to engage conference attendees around these complex issues. August 2016 will be in the heart of national and local elections, and these issues are expected to remain at the top of the list of concerns for many voters; yet many Texans have never traveled to the Rio Grande Valley to experience what is happening and why.

You are invited to go “Beyond the Hype.” Come explore the stories, sounds, tastes, history, and future of the beautiful Rio Grande Valley.
