The Texas Lyceum is, in short, an organization about people, leadership, diversity, and
contribution. A seat as a Lyceum Director affords our state's recognized leaders with many
tacit and explicit benefits which often unexpectedly present themselves at meetings,
conferences, social events, and committee work. Some of the more important benefits of
directorship include opportunities to:
- Interact with and contribute directly to the knowledge and resources of our state’s civic, business, military, and legislative leaders and strategists;
- Meet other professional leaders from Texas who are equally active in their communities and professions, with many of these introductions often resulting in a lifelong friendships;
- Engage and learn about unfamiliar or controversial topics in forums that are inviting, trusting, and well-represented by experienced professionals in their field;
- Contribute back to our communities and state some of the benefit gained through good education, honest work ethics, and the encouragement, freedom, and confidence to explore;
- Recognize those that loyally have served our state and our communities as well as those that still do through the presentation of prestigious leadership awards;
- Recognize our young leaders for their achievements, and to reward them with academic scholarships that are designed to make their education journey a little easier;

The Texas Lyceum is about leadership, education, experience, and stewardship.
Lyceum Directors are known for their ability to seek out opportunity, and
more often than not simply create it where it traditionally has not been.
Lyceum Directors enjoy many different types of people and their ideas, and
together they all build better plans.
We have all heard at some point in our lives the adage that leaders do not
flock together, they are usually found soaring alone. Lyceum Directors are
proven leaders. And, while leaders may be known for their independence,
Lyceum events are designed to permit our Lyceum Directors those occasional
opportunities to gather so they can learn, share, and grow even more collectively
and individually.
